For 80 years, the Doctors for Cannabis Regulation has led the fight to protect the people’s rights. By helping the DFCR, you directly aid our legal support in labor struggles, international rights monitoring, mass defense of political speech, rebuffing attacks on immigrants, women, people of color, LGBTQ persons, prisoners, and others facing government and institutional oppression.
Doctors for Cannabis Regulation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All donations are tax-deductible. If your employer has a contribution match program, please ask your Human Resources Department for a matching donation form. EIN: 47-5335200.

Where do your membership dues go?
A portion of your dues goes to sustaining the National Office, and these dollars are what keep the organization going by helping us produce publications, coordinate the annual convention, and organize national campaigns. We are proudly 100% membership funded, which means we are grassroots and member driven. The other portion of membership dues are redistributed to local chapters and region to facilitate on-the-ground work and convenings like Regional Conventions.
What does being a DFCR member mean?
As a member of the DFCR, you join thousands of others who have dedicated their lives and careers to the proposition that the law should serve the people. You help determine the direction of the Guild, and you help make us a stronger community of like-minded individuals working for social change. Each lawyer, law student, legal worker or jailhouse lawyer who joins our ranks brings us another step closer to a just world. We benefit from both the stability and experience of our long-standing members and from the vitality of our newer members who carry on our legacy with a sense of urgency and energy. While the Guild has grown older and wiser, our nation’s leaders have not. The Guild is a dynamic, living organization made up of members who never stop challenging themselves and who never rest in their quest for justice.
Thank you for your interest in getting involved with the DFCR! Here’s what you can do:
Become a Member or Renew Your Membership: Membership in the DFCR is open to attorneys. If you are interested in legal observing, become a member and we’ll connect you with your local chapter and upcoming legal observer trainings.
Become a Friend of the DFCR: Not eligible to become a member, but want to help sustain our work? Friends of the DFCR is home to hundreds of donors who have committed to support our work month after month – with gifts ranging from $5 to $500.
Donate to the Mass Defense (Protest Support) Fund: The DFCR Mass Defense Program is currently working across the country to protect the rights of those protesting the police killing of George Floyd and the broader pattern of ongoing racialized police violence. Our chapters and members are on the ground in dozens of cities right now supporting the right to dissent. Your donation will help provide legal support for political activists and movements for racial and economic justice.
Volunteer with the DFCR: We have received overwhelming support and are currently not accepting volunteers from outside our current membership. If you are interested in becoming a legal observer, please see the membership description above.
